Abstract This book was compiled on the basis of lectures given by the author within the period of a few years at the department of Oriental Philosophical and Political Thought at the State Academic University for Humanities. The current situation on the international and domestic stages calls for examination of the close connection between Islam, law and politics. The second chapter is devoted to the traditional problem statement in Islamic jurisdiction and its methodology. The third chapter contains the history…
The book contains a review of the philosophical ideas of Murtaza Mutahhari, a well-known Muslim scholar. Having compiled excerpts from writings and lectures of the Iranian thinker, the author generalises the philosopher’s statements without distorting his style and his usual way of narration. The book is meant for readers specializing or interested in Islamic philosophy.
The books provides some insights into economic and social functions of money and the thereto related main financial taboos of the Islamic economy, helping the reader to acquire a correct understanding of Islamic financial phenomena. It investigates relevant issues regarding loans, interests and usury. Furthermore, the author demonstrates the historical cycle of monetary evolution (product — metals — cash), sets out financial assets that fulfil monetary functions, describes different types of money (token money, war money, symbolic money etc) and sheds light on other aspects related to money in Islamic law and Islamic economy.
The work examines the convictions of the Arabic thinker in the light of Islamic philosophy. Having defined questions broached in Farabi’s philosophy, the author draws certain conclusions about the incorrectness of the views of many European thinkers’, who only considered this Islamic philosopher as a commentator of Aristotle’s works. The book is meant for inquiring readers interested in Islamic philosophy.
The work represents a research of the question that has been occupying historians, orientalists and writers for many centuries. The books tells about the incident in Karbala, where took place the atrocious murder of imam Husayn, the Prophet’s grandson, and of other members of the holy family. The Iranian author committed himself to examining the reasons of the uprising and its development by studying numerous documentary, religious, literary and other sources. Sophisticated readers will find an appendix with tables featuring the names of the deceased and references to trustworthy medieval sources.
