Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation conducted forum on Islamic philosophy and culture

23.09.2019

On 22 September 2019 the Ibn Sina Foundation conducted the forum entitled “Islamic philosophy and culture”, which took place within the framework of the Shihabeddin Marjani readings.

The forum was meant to demonstrate the connection between different elements of the Islamic culture. Russian and Iranian scholars spoke about how the Islamic philosophy was integrated in the global historical and philosophical context, revealed its role in the development of art and literature and described its meaning for Islam today. In the end, the emphasis was placed on the aesthetical component of Islamic culture: leading Russian experts in Iranian literature and visual arts spoke about the connection between poetry and calligraphy. The forum culminated in the first screening of the film “Tochka”, which is devoted to Islamic calligraphy.

We thank all visitors who attended the conference. Those who could not participate will be able to read the reports in the “Vestnik RUDN” and “Islam v sovremennom mire” (Islam in the modern world”) magazines.

The next screening of “Tochka” will be on 11 November in the Grand Hall of the Russian State Library within the framework of the visit of Hamid-Reza Kelichkhani, the author of the book “Iranian calligraphy”.
