He studied the art of calligraphy under the guidance of such respected experts as Golam-Hossein Amirkhani, Abdolla Foradi and Yadolla Kaboli, and he studied music under the supervision of Khushang Zarif, Ataulla Zahed Shirazi and Mohammed Reza Lotfi.

After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran, he continued his studies in France, at the School of Fine Arts in Valenciennes, and then at Sorbonne University. He defended his thesis on the interaction of music and calligraphy - “The Musicality of Lines and Dots” (2018), where he introduced the term “music calligraphy”.

Bahman Panahi participates in international calligraphy exhibitions, festivals and music concerts. He is currently teaching calligraphy in Paris.
