Nowruz was celebrated at the RSL Centre of Oriental Literature

On March 24, 2023 an event dedicated to Nowruz was held at the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library.

The event started with a welcoming speech of the director of the Russian State Library, Vadim Duda, and speeches of the following distinguished guests: Kazem Jalali (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia), Hamid Hadavimogaddam (President of the Ibn Sina Foundation)  and Oleg Akulinichev (head of the Hayyam Cultural Centre).

Daniil Ognev, head librarian of the RSL Centre of Oriental Literature, announced the opening of a new exhibition in the Russian State Library "The Line Language: Iranian Book Engravings at the turn of the 20th century" dedicated to Iranian print art and invited the guests to visit it after the event.

Tamila Jani-zadeh, PhD in Arts, associate professor of the Music History Department of the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music, presented a new collection of articles "The History and Anthropology of Music of the Muslim World" and provided information about the compilation and editing process. She also emphasized the uniqueness of the Ibn Sina Foundation's project "Islam and Music". The previous collection "Music in the Context of Islam: Iranian Traditions" was published as part of this project.

The «Nowruz 2023 at Leninka» event also included a cultural and entertaining programme. Musician Amir Khatai performed Iranian folk tunes on the santoor. Iranian students cited the ghazals of famous Persian poets in Persian  (with a Russian translation) under the supervision of Dr. Marina Reisner, professor of Iranian Philology at Institute of African and Asian Studies of the Moscow State University.

The books on art and culture published by the Ibn Sina Foundation were exhibite at the Center of Oriental Literature of Russian State Library during the event.

«Nowruz-2023 at Leninka» was organized by the Centre of Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library, the Ibn Sina Foundation and the Hayyam Cultural Centre.
