On the 27th September in the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences the representatives of the Institute, the Islamic Culture Research Foundation and the Sadra publishing house met Seyyed Salman Safavi, head of the London Academy of Iranian Studies, and Sadraddin Safavi, director of the Academy’s publishing house.
The meeting was attended by A.V.Smirnov, director of the Institute of Philosophy, H.R. Hadavimogaddam, president of the Fund, S.N. Tabai, general director of the Sadra publishing house, as well as members of the Department of Philosophy of Islamic countries — T.G. Korneyeva, A.A. Lukashev, Yu.E. Fedorova.
In the course of an animated discussion the parties shared the latest developments in the area of Islamic thought studies in Russia and abroad and defined areas of cooperation both in educational and academic fields. Seyyed Salman Safavi invited Russian scholars to participate in the work of the London Academy of Iranian Studies. The representatives of the Fund and publishing houses expressed their readiness to support academic Islamic studies.
Seyyed Salman Safavi is the head of the London Academy of Iranian Studies, the author of a number of books devoted to the works of Jalal ad-Din Rumi and Sadr ad-Din Shirazi. He wrote the book entitled “Practical mysticism”, which was published in Russia in 2013. The Sadra publishing house with the support of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation is currently preparing its second edition for publication.
