Persia: the history of undiscovered land

Abstract

Not many states could counter the attacks of the Roman empire and win victories like Persia did. The unique blades made by Persian artisans can still be considered a model for noble weapon. Ancient towns, aqueducts and irrigation facilities of Persia boggle minds even in our days. The works of local poets and artists constitute a part of the world’s cultural heritage, e.g. classical Persian miniatures that are often called the most perfect things ever created in the world art. “Shahnameh”, an epic poem written by the great Ferdowsi, is not only an extensive and graphic epic, but also a source of many legends, including the one that mentions a king who thought its every line was worth gold. However, despite the worldwide fame of Persian poets and generals, this land’s history keeps many other secrets.
