During spring vacation, from 24 March to 1 April 2018, the Russian State library is holding the annual Week of children’s and juvenile books.
The trade fair will be attended by children and their parents, experts in book publishing, librarians and educators.
The Sadra publishing house is presenting children’s books from the “Persian tales” series and promotion materials at its booth. The staff of the publishing house organized a creative workshop within the framework of the trade fair in order to familiarize little readers with the characters of the books of the “Shekarestan” series. The Sadra employees prepared a promotion video clip demonstrating all books from “Shahnameh”, “Neyestan” and “Shekarestan” series and inserted cartoons from a popular Iranian same-name TV serial. They also prepared colouring books picturing the characters living in the “Sweet land”, bought marker pens, modelling clay and other craft materials specially for children. The Sadra employees told the children a tale from the first issue called “White Ear, Black Tail and others”. The majority of children who attended the workshop were happy to make handcrafted items, cutting and pasting the characters of this tale – cute sheep — made with paper, cotton wool and glue. The parents participated in these activities as eagerly as their children.
Doing crafts is a simple, cheap and very interesting activity. Handmade items not only give you moral satisfaction, but also develop fine manual skills, which is beneficial for children’s development. It is a hard work for a little child. Even the simplest — from an adult’s point of view — thing is a great achievement for a child, and children always get excited when they succeed. And all those nice sheep made by children brought them lots of joy.
The children received gifts — “Persian tales” balloons and books from the “Shekarestan” series.
