The Islamic Culture Research Foundation has launched a new book series — Russian oriental studies, which will be interesting for readers and will contribute to the development of oriental and Islamic studies.
The first book in the series is the monograph of a Russian orientalist and public figure, Renat Bekkin, which is entitled “A.E. Schmidt: biography, academic correspondence, selected works, references” and was edited by the senior research assistant of the Institute of History under the National University of Uzbekistan.
The book is devoted to the work of the Russian orientalist Alexandr Eduardovich von Schmidt (1871–1939). I.Yu.Krachkovskiy, A.N. Samoylovich, V.I. Belyaev, P.P.Ivanov, E.M Peshchereva and many others considered themselves his disciples. The book starts with an academic biography of A.E. Schmidt, which was prepared specially for this edition. The monograph contains unique materials from public and private archives in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Tashkent.
The edition has been prepared by the Sadra publishing house with the assistance of the Saint Petersburg branch of the RAS Archive and RAS Institute of Africa.
