A course on the contemporary Persian literature with the participation of Persian teachers and students from different Russian universities took place on 10-13 September 2018 in the Foreign Literature Library in Moscow. The course was organized with the support of the Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation, the Cultural representative office of Iran in Moscow and the Institute of Humanities and Cultural Studies (Iran).
One of the course’s objectives was to familiarize the researchers and everyone else with the contemporary Iranian literature, as well as the works devoted to the Iranian revolution.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Mehdi Sanai, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, spoke about the significance of the literary discourse and highlighted the importance of the contemporary literature of Iran.
Mr. Hamid Hadavimogaddam, president of the Ibn Sina Foundation, spoke about different activities organized by the Foundation in cooperation with the Cultural representative office of Iran in Moscow. He explained how the course had been arranged and expressed the hope that similar events would be conducted again in future.
Mr. Kahraman Suleimani, head of the Cultural representative office of Iran in Moscow, emphasized the role of literature in the relationships between Russia and Iran, adding that the modern Persian literature was one of the means allowing the Russians to get acquainted with the Iranian culture.
Thanks to the work of the visiting professor, Mr. Muwahidi, member of the academic board of the Institute of Humanities and Cultural Studies, the course participants had the opportunity to get information about the following subjects:
1) introduction to the contemporary Iranian literature;
2) Iranian literature after the Iranian revolution (prose);
3) Iranian literature after the Iranian revolution (poetry);
4) History of the literature about the Iran-Iraq war;
5) Influence of foreign literature on the Persian literature;
6) Drama in post-revolutionary Iran.
It should be noted that many works mentioned by Mr. Muwahidi have been translated into Russian and published by the Sadra publishing house with the support of the Ibn Sina Foundation.
In the end, the Ibn Sina Foundation presented three Persian fiction editions to all participants. All members of the audience received diplomas during the closing ceremony.
