As a part of the “Tehran — Ufa — Kazan bridge” exhibition, Hamid Hadavimogaddam, president of the Ibn Sina Foundation, and Andrey Lukashev, research director, will conduct a presentation of the art-related works published by the Sadra publishing house with the support of the Ibn Sina Foundation. The main emphasis will be placed on “The unity of beauty” series, which currently includes three works: a collection of Iranian scholars’ articles about the connection between Islam and visual arts (edited by M. J. Nazarli, 2019), a collection of articles devoted to the understanding of music in the context of Islamic culture with a reference to the Iranian traditions (edited by T.M. Jani-zade, “Music in the context of Islam: Iranian traditions”, 2019) and a book of the Iranian calligrapher Hamid-Reza Kelichkhani, “Iranian calligraphy: introduction to the tradition” (2019). A screening of Emir Valinejad’s documentary, “Tochka”, which was filmed at the request of the Ibn Sina Foundation, will also be arranged at the Islamic Culture Museum.
The opening ceremony for the “Tehran — Ufa — Kazan bridge” exhibition will take place on 20 December 2019 at 16:00 at the Islamic Culture Museum of the Kazan Kremlin. It will feature the results of collaboration between the calligrapher Naser Tawoosi (Tehran, Iran) and the scenic designer Lira Suleyman (Ufa, Russia).
Naser Tawoosi made 20 calligraphy works specially for this project. His sketches demonstrate the qalam’s lightness in his hand and the clarity of the calligraphic manifestation of the Qur’anic verses. The sketches represent the Almighty’s names and verses from the Qur’anic surahs, such as “Al-Kahf”, “Az-Zumar”, “Al-Fatiha”.
Based on the sketches of the Iranian calligrapher, Lira Suleyman made paintings using mixed techniques and adding volume and dynamics to Nasir Tawoosi’s sketches. A unique colour composition and material were used for each of the works. The artists makes designs using wood, paper, Swarovski crystals, malachite and clear quartz.
Dr. Naser Tawoosi is a calligrapher, PhD in Philosophy and Candidate of Technical Sciences, associate professor of the London University, member of the Council of the Calligraphers’ Association.
Lira Suleyman — scenic designer, speaker of the Moscow Qur’an Festival (2016–2018), winner of the 1st prize of the International Calligraphy Competition (Grozny, 2019).
