A new book has been added to the “Islamic and pre-Islamic world: history and politics” series. A work describing the Egypt of the 2nd half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century by M.F. Vidyasova, PhD in historical studies, leading researcher of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, has been published with the support of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation.
The emphasis is placed on the issue of totalitarianism (relations between the authorities and the opposition) and the movement of “political Islam”, which dates back to late 1920s; the second wave of this movement is related to the “Arab spring”.
The publication is intended for those engaged in political studies, history and Oriental studies, as well as for general readers interested in the events happening in North Africa and the Middle East.
