On 14-16 November 2022 severals events dedicated to the contemporary Iranian miniature were held at the Oriental Culture Centre of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
On 14 November the exhibition of the works of the famous contemporary Iranian miniature painter Reza Badr al-Sam was opened. It was organised by the Ibn Sina Foundation in cooperation with the Oriental Culture Centre at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Oriental Literature Centre at the Russian State Library and the Afanasi Nikitin Association.
During the opening ceremony, the speeches were delivered by Lana Rawandi-Fadai, Head of the Oriental Culture Centre, Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences; Dr Hamid Hadavi, President of Ibn Sina Foundation; Dr Kazem Jalali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Alikber Alikberov, Director of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Nadezhda Skirda, Executive Director of the Afanasiy Nikitin Association and also Reza Badr as-Sama. The speakers thanked the organizers and visitors of the exhibition and emphasizeda the importance of maintaining cultural ties between Russia and Iran.
On 15-16 November the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies held a number of workshops devoted to floral patterns and drawing of birds in miniature. The guests also had a chance to meet the miniature painter Reza Badr as-Sama in a very lively atmosphere. The guests created their first miniatures, talked to the miniaturist and took pictures.
Reza Badr as-Sama (Iran) is a miniature painter, Doctor of Fine Arts, winner of international festivals of fine arts. He worked on miniatures for poetry collections that included the works of Hafiz, Jalaluddin Rumi, Baba Taher, Parvin Etesami and many others.
