“Essays on the History of Zaidite Thought in the 7th-11th Centuries” are out of print

The monograph “Essays on the History of Zaidite Thought in the 7th-11th Centuries” by Faris Nofal, researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has been published.

The book represents the 21st edition of the “Philosophical Thought of the Islamic World” series and the 15th volume of the “Research” sub-series.

The work is dedicated to the study of the early development of the Zaidite Kalam. A comparative analysis of theological and naturalistic philosophical ideas of early Zaidite thinkers allows the author to contest the stereotype regarding the dependence of Zaidite Kalam on Mu’tazilite philosophy. For the first time in the history of international Oriental studies, the author determines to what extent Classical Kalam and Arabic Neoplatonism influence certain provisions of Zaidite teachings on human, nature and God.

“Essays on the History of Zaidite Thought in the 7th-11th Centuries” was prepared in cooperation with the RAS Institute of Philosophy and published by the Sadra publishing house with the support of Ibn Sina foundation.
