The first issue of “Ishraq”, a journal on Islamic Philosophy, is out of print. It includes 4 articles (by A. Lukashev, V. Drozdov, G. Kakai, A. Teika), the materials prepared by J. Eshots for the “Dictionary of the Arabic Muslim philosophical terms” (published posthumously) and the third section of “The first speeches on selected teachings” by al-Shaikh al-Mufid, translated by F. Nofal.
The “Ishraq” journal is a new joint project of the Ibn Sina Foundation, the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Iranian Institute of Philosophy. Unlike the former ten-volume yearbook Ishraq issued under the direction of the late Islamic scholar Janis Eshots, Ishraq will be published in paperback twice a year and will be considered a periodical.
Once again, the main objective of the editors and editorial board of the new “Ishraq” will be to present the best development of contemporary academic Islamic studies in Russia and abroad. Apart from academic articles, the journal will also feature discussion material, translations of texts, reviews of important academic conferences, and comments on the release of new interesting works related Islamic studies.
A. Smirnov (Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences) will be the editor-in-chief of the journal, V. Zolotukhin (National Research University “Higher School of Economics”) will be the executive editor, A. Lukashev (Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences) and F. Nofal (Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences) will be the deputy editors-in-chief.
