On August,11, the Ibn Sina Foundation held a book exhibition at the Biblio-Globus Trade House. The exhibition too place within the framework of the Iran Club meeting on the occasion of the World Calligraphy Day. The book “Iranian Calligraphy” by Hamid-Reza Kelichkhani, which introduces the reader to the wonderful world of calligraphy and contains over 300 illustrations depicting unique artworks, was in the spotlight. The Foundation also organised a screening of “The Dot” film by Emir Valinejad, which is also dedicated to the Iranian calligraphy.
The meeting programme also included a lecture by a famous Iranian calligrapher, Professor Kaveh Teymouri “Insights on the functions of calligraphy in the past and present in the Islamic Republic of Iran”; a presentation by a Russian calligraphy artist, Lira Suleiman, on “Classical Persian calligraphy and contemporary art”; an exhibition of leading Iranian calligraphers’ works; a calligraphy workshop by Professor Munir Peykan, and lots of traditional Iranian sweets to taste.
The event was organised by the Cultural Representative Office under the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran together with Biblio-Globus Trade House.
