The monograph ” Historical sketches of the Anglo-Iranian War of 1856-1857″ by Boris Norik, candidate of historical sciences, senior researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has been published. The book is the 13th edition in “Islamic and Pre-Islamic World: History and Politics” series issued by the Ibn Sina Foundation.
The history of Iran comprises numerous significant events, and the Anglo-Iranian War of 1856-1857 was one of them. The experts are familiar with this historical event, but the general audience is not. While many researchers devoted their works to this war, they mainly wrote about its political aspects, leaving behind the hostilities and mentioning them only superficially. This monograph is intended to restore the balance and demonstrate what was happening in the Persian Gulf region, far from the place of the unfolding political events that led to this war.
B.V. Norik’s book was prepared by Sadra Publishing House in cooperation with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and published with the support of the Ibn Sina Foundation based on the results of the Ibn Sina Publishing Grant Competition 2023.
