On the 23rd of November a book by E.F. Ryazanova “German muslims in modern Germany. Who are they?” published by the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation took place at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The presentation was arranged in the framework of the program of the Conference of Young Scholars of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2023 during the contest of publishing projects the book of Elvina Ryazanova received a grant of Ibn Sina Foundation.
The presentation was opened by the director of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Anatolievich Founk. He told about how E.F. Ryazanova entered the postgraduate school of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, how she collected research materials in Germany, how she began to work at the Institute. The scientific director of the Foundation spoke about the Foundation’s activities and its major projects. At the end of his speech A. Lukashev invited the colleagues from the Institute to the collaboration with the Foundation.
At the end of the event the author of the book presented her work. Elvina Ryazanova told about the experience of ethnical Germans who embrace Islam, about their relations with the German society. Also she spoke about her work on the book. She especially underlined that she decided to publish her book with the help of the Foundation after getting acquainted with the books of Ibn Sina Foundation and especially with the book “Islamic religious upbringing in Germany” by P. Kazak. The book became a subject of a special interest of the Institute’s stuff.
