On the 7th of May a writer and a translator Alexander Pavlovich Andryushkin delivered a lecture “The New Translations of Novels from Persian and Arabic” at the Library of National Literatures in Saint Petersburgh. The event was organized and held with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation.
In his speech Mr. Andryushkin told about Iranian novelists’ artworks and about the specific features of translation of fiction into Russian, as well as his own experience of translating several Iranian novels, namely “Her Self” by Reza Amir-Khani, “Victims of Desirable Paradise” by Mohammad Reza Bairami, “Ismail” by Amir-Hossein Fardi, “Nahid” by Shahriyar Zamani, “The Last of Salars” by Mohammad Kadhem Maxinani, “Travel to a Height of 270” by Ahmad Dehkhan, “Chess with the Machine of Judgement Day” by Habib Ahmadzadeh and the collection of contemporary Iranian fiction “The Light of Love and Belief”.
Among Arabic artworks he translated the novels by Fuad Yazji (Syria) and Basim al-Zubi (Jordan). You can watch the lecture by Alexander Pavlovich Andryushkin here.
