The second corrected edition of the book “Arabic Philosophy: Past and Present” by a Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, a leading research scholar of the Sector of Philosophy of the Islamic World of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was recently reissued.
12 centuries have passed between the emergence of philosophy of the Arabic world and its currents state. That was a flourishing time for Arabic wisdom that influenced the Mevieval Europe. The book also covers the period of its decline and stagnation at the Ottoman Era. It also includes the revival of spiritual life of the Arabic world, the intention to revive its glory and to enter the modern intellectual world along with the developed countries. The rich philosophical thought of the past and the quests of philosophers of the XX and the XXI centuries, their attempts to answer nowadays issues are also reflected in this book.
The First edition of E.A. Frolova’s work was issued by the Publishing House “Languages of Slavic Cultures” in 2010.
The book was prepared with the assistance of the Institute of Philosophy and Ibn Sina Foundation, and issued by “Sadra” Publishing House. This is the second volume of the series “Philosophical Thought of the Islamic World: Research Works”.
