On the 4th of July 2024 Nikolay Nikolaevich Dyakov delivered a lecture “The diversity of dimensions in contemporary Sufi studies” which was held in the framework of the cycle of lectures “Religious brotherhoods of the Arabic West: tariqats and marabuts in the history of Maghrib and al-Andalus”. The event was organized and held with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation and Mayakovsky Library.
Nikolay Nikolaevich Dyakov is a Doctor of historical sciences, a professor, a Honourable Professor of the Saint Petersburgh State University, the Head of the Department of the History of Middle Eastern Countries of the Saint Petersburgh State University. He spoke on Sufism and Tariqats in Maghrib, about its influence on local cultures and the role of Islamic Mysticism at the eve of the Modern era.
