A lecture entitled «Sufism. Questions and answers» by A.D. Knysh held at Mayakovsky Library

On the 11th of August 2024 an interactive lecture «Sufism. Questions and Answers» by A.D. Knysh was held in the framework of the cycle «The Variety of Dimensions in Contemporary Sufi Studies» at Mayakovsky Library with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation. The lecturer focused on conversation with the auditory. Many questions were raised during the interaction, particularly questions about the essence, history and regional forms of Sufism and Islamic Mysticism as a whole.

Alexander Dmitrievich Knysh is a Professor of Islamic studies at the Faculty of the Middle Eastern Studies of the University of Michigan situated in the city Ann Arbor (USA). He is the head of the Research Laboratory for the Analysis and Modeling of Social Processes of Saint Petersburgh. As well, he is an author and editor of various books on Islamic studies, including 14 books in Russian and in English (some of them are translated into other languages).
