The new work by Habibollah ‘Azimi” entitled “Fundamentals of Muslim manuscriptology (Centers of correspondence, codicological elements, principles of cataloging and methods for determining the autencity of manuscripts)” was issued as the fifth book of the series “The Unity of Beauty: Islam and Fine Arts”. This book was translated from Persian and provided by a foreword and commentaries by Boris Vyacheslavovich Norik, a Candidate of Historical Sciences, a Senior Research Scholar of the Department of Oriental History of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The monograph by H. ‘Azimi is a guide to the amazing world of Muslims manuscripts from researcher’s perspective. The author covers a wide range of issues related to archeography, paleography, codicology and textual criticism that are auxiliary disciplines in the study of manuscripts (manuscriptology).
The book is prepared and issued by “Sadra” Publishing House with the assistance of Ibn Sina Foundation and the Department of Oriental History of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The book contains a lot of colourful illustrations and is addressed to specialists on Muslim manuscripts, students studying these sciences and everybody who is interested in the Oriental book culture.
