The Foundation took part in an event dedicated to Eid al-Fitr in Saint Petersburgh

Ibn Sina Foundation took part in the event dedicated to Eid al-Fitr that took place on the 12th of April at Saint Petersburgh House of Nationalities. The event was organized in the framework of urban project “Saint Petersburgh. The Harmony of Cultures”.

The greetings from the director of Saint Petersburgh House of Nationalities Alexander Nikolaevich Karlov were read to respected guests. The business manager of “The Society of Citizens of Syrian Origin”, the director of Centre of Russian Arabic Cultural and Business Collaboration Waddah al-Jundi also spoke to the auditory. The head of educational programs of Ibn Sina Foundation Majid Abolhasani presented the activities of the Foundation and told about its different dimensions: scientific, publishing, educational, media, etc.

A candidate of historical sciences, an assistant professor, the head of Department of Central Asia and Caucasus of the Oriental Faculty of Saint Petersburgh State University Zarineh Alievna Jandosova shared information about traditions of celebrating Nowruz. She delivered a special speech “Nowruz as a Holiday of Spring and Good”. Igor Alexandrovich Pankov, a candidate of historical sciences, the chief of the project “Tasawwuf in the Contemporary World” at the laboratory “The International Centre of Islamic Studies” of Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Kunstkamera), the president of non-profit Foundation of Development of Scientific and Cultural Projects “Al Maqam”, gave a lecture on “Fasting and Holiday in Islam: Social and Spiritual Dimension”.   

The heads and representatives of Azerbaijani, Afghan, Georgian, Egyptian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Kurdish-Yazidi, Turkmen, Uzbek, Chechen and Chuvash diaspora were also present at the event that was also visited by the representatives of the Youth Council of the House of Nationalities.

Ibn Sina Foundation together with “Sadra” Publishing House arranged an exhibition of its book production and granted it to guests at the end of the event.
