On the 20 of November 2024 the lecture “From the ‘Persian Quran’ to New Age Religions: How Jalal al-Din Rumi Became the Most Famous Sufi in the World” by M.A. Alontsev was held at the Russian State Library. Maxim Albertovich Alontsev is a Candidate of philological sciences, an Assistant Professor of the Institute of the Classical Orient and Antiquity of the National Research Institute “The High School of Economics”, the author of the channel “Pax Iranica”.
The author of the Sufi “Poem about Hidden Meaning” Jalal al-Din Rumi is such a significant figure that three countries claim themselves inheritors of his poetry, and his poems’ translations are wide spread all over the world. But Rumi wasn’t just a poet, he was also a founder of the Sufi order Mevlevi; this order still exists currently.
Mr. Maxim Alontsev spoke on the spiritual path of Rumi, on his influence nowadays, as well as on how he became the most reknown Sufi in the world.
