“The Persian Literature in the 9th to 18th Centuries” is a two-volume edition complied on the basis of research and longstanding course on the Persian literature delivered by M. Reisner and N. Ardashnikova at the Institute of Asian and African Studies at the Moscow State University. It represents an attempt to summarize all the knowledge accumulated in Iranian studies and Oriental literary studies over the last decades.
The first volume, “Persian Literature in the Pre-Mongolian era (9th – early 13th century). The formation of the canon: early classics” was published in 2019. The book presents the history of the formation and development of Iranian literature between 9th and 13th centuries.
The second volume, “Persian Literature in the 13th to 18th centuries. Late classics” was published in 2021. It presents an artistically complex picture of the development process underwent by Persian literature over the vast span of time, from the 13th to 18th centuries.
