The book by A.B. Gromov “Persia – Iran: the 20th Century” belongs to the series “Traces of Times”. It is dedicated to the history of Iran in the 20th century.
The 20th century was one of the most dynamic and unpredictable eras in the history of Iran. The fall of the previous dynasty after one century and a half rule, and the rule of the new dynasty, its’ reforms, two world wars and two Iranian revolutions, excavations of Persepolis, struggle for Iranian oil, the 2500th anniversary of Persian Empire, the Iranian-Iraqi war, reconstruction of Iran and the new life – all these events are covered by the book. Exactly in the 20th century Iran has taken an important place in the world culture, and many episodes of Persian history are included into Iranian literature and cinema.
The book begins from the preface by Kazem Jalali, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and is provided by archival colorful photos in the end.
