Ibn Sina Foundation took part in opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Calligraphy and Iranian Miniature in Kazan

On the 2nd of April an opening ceremony of calligraphy and Iranian miniature “Art as a Bridge” took place at the National Art Gallery “Hazineh” in Kazan.

The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan Dawood Mirzakhani delivered a speech at the event. He pointed to a great contribution of Ibn Sina Foundation into cultural interaction between Iran and Russia and to the positive development of relations between two countries.

The head of educational programs of Ibn Sina Foundation Majid Abolhasani presented Foundation’s activities and told about its different dimensions: scientific, publishing, media projects, etc. He paid a special attention to the educational project LectOrient dedicated to teaching different aspects of Oriental and Iranian culture, its history, philosophy, economy, law, literature, Persian and Arabic language. 

Ibn Sina Foundation provided the exhibition “Art as a Bridge” with 40 miniatures by Iranian artist Reza Badr al-Sama, 15 artworks by Iranian calligraphist Nasser Tawoosi and 10 illustrations from Hamid Reza Kelichkhani’s book “Iranian Calligraphy: an Introduction to the Tradition”. Also 15 paintings by Russian artist decorator Lira Suleiman were also presented at the exhibition.

Most of the guests of the exhibition were university teachers and students in the area of Iranian and Oriental studies.

The exhibition was timed to coincide to the last week of the Holy Muslim month of Ramadhan and on the eve of Uraza Bairam (Id al-Fitr) holiday in the framework of collaboration between the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan and Ibn Sina Foundation. It will be held in Kazan, at Sheinkman street, 12. The entrance is free.
