A presentation of “The story about Hayy ibn Yaqdhan”, which saw the light and became available for readers thanks to the support of the Islamic Culture Research Foundation and the efforts of the Sadra publishing house’s employees, took place on 27 April 2018 in the hall of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the People’s Friendship University of Russia.
This book is based on the translation of three versions of the classical story about Hayy ibn Yaqdhan by Ibn Sina, Suhrawardi and ibn Tufail. The translation was made by Artur Sagadeyev, a famous Soviet and Russian orientalist.

The book was prepared with the participation of leading researchers and professors of the People’s Friendship University of Russia, who delivered speeches at the presentation. They included Nur Kirabayev, PhD in Philosophy, professor, head of the Department of Philosophy History, pro-rector for research; Matem Muhammed Taha Al-Janabi, PhD in Philosophy, professor, academic advisor of the Centre for Arab Research; Ruzana Pskhu, PhD on Philosophy, assistant professor of the Department of Philosophy History.

Marietta Stepanyants, professor, PhD in philosophy, senior academic researcher of the Department of Oriendtal Philosophies of the RAS Institute of philosophy, shared warm memories related to Artur Sagadeyev. Valentina Sagadeyeva expressed her gratitude for preserving the memory of her father, an outstanding orientalist.

He said that cooperation with the People’s Friendship University of Russia resulted in a number of works published, including four books from the “Current philosophical discourse” series, edited by M.M. Al-Janabi, his work “Islam: civilization, culture, politics” and “The story about Hayy ibn Yaqdhan”. The Foundation and the publishing house are planning to prepare academic works about Murtaza Mutahhari, AL-Ghazali, Al-Niffari, and study materials.
The event ended with an oriental coffee break and informal conversations between the guests.
