Ibn Sina Foundation took part in the conference “Sheikh Zainullah Rasulev and the Sufi culture in Eurasia” in Ufa

On May 16, 2023, the International Academic Conference “Sheikh Zaynulla Rasulev and the Sufi Culture in Eurasia” took place at the Toratau Congress Hall in the capital of Bashkortostan. The event was dedicated to the 190th anniversary of Zaynulla Rasulev (1833-1917), an outstanding Bashkir religious and public figure. The Ibn Sina Foundation was one of the organizers of the conference.

The President of the Ibn Sina Foundation Hamid Khadavimogaddam delivered a welcoming speech and spoke about the important role of knowledge in Islamic culture. He noted that the Muslim heritage needed to be explored not only by experts in the field, but also by a wider audience.

Andrey Lukashev, research director of the Ibn Sina Foundation and senior research associate of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about the metaphysics of action in the work of 'Abd al-Rahman Jami and presented the activities of the Ibn Sina Foundation.

The event was concluded with a screening of Emir Valinejad's documentary “The Dot” (2019) dedicated to the art of Islamic calligraphy.

The conference resulted in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ufa University of Science and Technology and the Ibn Sina Foundation, as well as the publication of the conference proceedings.

The international academic conference “Sheikh Zainulla Rasulev and the Sufi culture in Eurasia” was attended by Islamic scholars from Ufa, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, the Republic of Dagestan and other regions of Russia, CIS and non-CIS countries, as well as young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students. The number of participants exceeded 1000 people. The conference focused on such topics as Sheikh Zainulla Rasulev's spiritual heritage in the modern Bashkir Sufi tradition, the fate of Sufism in Russia during the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, the phenomenon of Sufi literature and the prospects of Sufism in Russia.
