On the 26th of June, 2024, Igor Alexandrovich Pankov delivered a lecture “Travelling as a practice of education in sufism” at Mayakovsky Library. The event was organized in the framework of the cycle of lectures “The Diversity of dimensions of contemporary sufi studies” by Ibn Sina Foundation (Moscow) and Mayakovsky Museum (Saint Petersburg).
Igor Alexandrovich spoke on the philosophy of Sufism and the role of travelling in its teachings. He mentioned that travelling in Sufism corresponds to the principles of spiritual self-perfection and comprehension of the Absolute. He shared some stories from his own practical research and acquainted the auditory with the anthropological approach to studying Islamic practices.
