Ibn Sina Foundation presented its achievements at the VII Annual Forum of Iranists

On the 21st February 2024 the Scientific Director of Ibn Sina Foundation Andrei Lukashev spoke about the most prominent achievements of the Foundation at the VII Annual Forum of Iranists and Persian Language Teachers.

In his speech Mr. Lukashev underlined that the main objective of Ibn Sina Foundation’s activities is the support of Russian scholars and scientific centers that focus on Islamic and Iranian studies. An example of such support is donating more than 400 books published by the Foundation to the libraries of the Kazan Orthodox Theological Seminary and the Institute of Asian and African Countries of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. Moreover, the Russian State Library and the Institute of Asian and African Countries of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University were granted an approach to the electronic system “Nur” that includes hundreds of thousands of multivolume books in Persian and Arabic, as well as the biggest collection of periodicals on Iran and Islam. 

Effective and fruitful activities of Ibn Sina Foundation led to significant results: thus, for the last three years books issued by Foundation have been winning an award “The Best Book of the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences”: a monograph by A.A. Lukashev “The World of Meaning in A Few Words. Philosophical Views of Mahmud Shabistari in the Context of the Epoch” (2021, the first place); a monograph by I.R. Nasyrov “Ibn Khaldun in Ottoman Historiography” (2022, the first place); a monograph by T.G. Korneeva “Nasir Khusraw and His Philosophic Views” (2023, the second place). In 2021 two-volume textbook by M.L. Reisner and A.N. Ardashnikova “Persian Literature in IX-XVIII Centuries” was granted a M.V. Lomonosov Award of the second degree. In 2024 Patimat Magomedovna Alibekova received an award “Book of the Year” in the category “World Book of the Year” from the President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi.  In 2022 her book “Persian Language and Literature in Dagestan” was included into the top list of the International Intellectual Literature Book Fair Non/fiction№24.

Mr. Andrei Lukashev also told that the second volume of the Great Persian-Russian Vocabulary by V.B. Ivanov also was issued by Ibn Sina Foundation with the assistance of the Foundation “Russian World”. The work continues, and this year the Foundation is planning to publish the third (and the final) volume of the vocabulary. 

In the end of his speech the Scientific Director of the Foundation invited scholars and researchers to a participation in developing an electronic encyclopedia “Islamology” and in preparing scientific articles for the coming issues of the almanac “Ishraq”.

More than 20 participants, among them state officials, research scholars in the area of Iranian Studies, Persian language teachers from different regions of Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran, delivered a speech at the VII Annual Forum of Iranists and Persian Language Speakers. The main aim of the forum was to discuss the results of activities in the area of Iranian studies and teaching Persian language and literature in Russian and Eurasian region in the recent year.
